My dad passed away nearly 32 years ago at the age of 62 and we were all heartbroken. With a diagnosis of myeloid leukaemia there was no valuable treatment for him and as a nurse I was well aware of his prognosis.
He didn’t get to meet my eldest daughter who was born just after his passing. His illness was also attributed to working with chemicals which made it all the more traumatic. Last year I experienced and watched my other daughter donate cells via Anthony Nolan last November it was very emotional and I’m still in awe of her.
I know that my dad would have been very proud of her like we are and that AN continues to provide hope, proudness and emotional support to donors and families well done xx
